Ministry of Reintegration of the Temporarily Occupied Territories of Ukraine has added the Crimean Tatar language option to its official website in a move to develop and promote indigenous languages, a concept adopted by the government.

The Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine had approved a concept of the development of the Crimean Tatar language on April 7, 2021. Reintegration Ministry became the first governmental organization to introduce efforts for the implementation of the concept.

Within the framework of developing and supporting the language of the indigenous people, the Ministry has included the Crimean Tatar language option on its official website.

Seitkhalil: Our purpose is to make Crimean Tatar language functional in all spheres

In his statement on the subject, Deputy Minister of Reintegration of Temporarily Occupied Territories of Ukraine Snaver Seitkhalil said that the Ministry started implementing the strategy. In particular, he emphasised, the draft law on Indigenous Peoples was presented to the Ukrainian Parliament.

"In addition to our application to Google and Duolingo, we have put into practice the Crimean Tatar language option on the Ministry's website. Our goal is to ensure the comprehensive development and functioning of the language of the indigenous peoples of Ukraine along with the state language in all spheres of public life," Seitkhalil said.

He added that the new language option is at the testing phase and that the Crimean Tatar page is planned to be completed within 2-3 months. As noted, the process of translating the existing data on the site and inclusion of adding new information is continuing.
