The new wave of house raids in Russia-occupied Crimea, and detentions of Crimean Tatars by FSB officers are Russia's reactions against the start of the Crimea Platform, according to the President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky.
"The occupation forces in Crimea are again resorting to the persecution of Crimean Tatars. New searches and detentions are taking place in their homes. Nariman Dzhelal, the first deputy head of the Mejlis, has been taken away," Zelensky said.
The Ukrainian president called for the release of all detainees held by Russia.
"This is how the Russian Federation reacts to the start of the Crimea Platform. All detainees must be released!" he added.
The Russian FSB (federal security service) has carried out a new wave of armed searches in occupied Crimea with the five Crimean Tatars taken away in cars without number plates including Nariman Dzhelal, First Deputy Head of the Mejlis of the Crimean Tatar people.
