A group of Ukrainian citizens could not take a flight from Almaty to Kyiv due to the suspension of the airport on the evening of January 5. This was announced on the Facebook page by the spokesman of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Oleh Nikolenko.

“Diplomats helped Ukrainians find places to stay for the night. The embassy is currently investigating with the airport administration and the airline the possibility of making this flight, and is keeping in touch with passengers,” – Nikolenko wrote on Facebook.

He noted that the situation is complicated by the state of emergency in Kazakhstan, unstable mobile communication and the Internet. The regional passenger transport is partially restricted, and international flights are delayed or canceled.

According to the Foreign Ministry, a flight to Kyiv is planned for today.

The Minister for Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Dmytro Kuleba called on the citizens of Ukraine to avoid places of mass events, as well as to register in the electronic system "FRIEND" (https://friend.mfa.gov.ua), so that diplomats can provide an assistance in time.
