A Ukrainian producer was detained in Italy at Russia’s request

Ukrainian theater producer, Shevchenko National Prize nominee, former chief producer of the Odessa Opera and Ballet Theater, Yevhen Lavrenchuk was detained in Italy at Russia’s request for his extradition to Russia.

According to Novoye Vremia (Current Time), Lavrenchuk was taken to a Naples detention center. The consuls and a lawyer are currently working with Italian law enforcement to find out all the reasons for his detention and to protect his legitimate interests.

According to Censor.net, Yevhen committed a criminal offense in Russia 8 years ago. It is known that he is accused of financial violations. However, the details of the case are not being disclosed yet.

Lavrchenchuk had been working in Russia for more than 10 years, but in 2015 he left Russia. According to him, it was "impossible to live in a country that kills your brothers".
