Fighting between Armenia and Azerbaijan resumed

Today, September 14, the Ministry of Defense of Armenia announced that Azerbaijan has resumed hostilities on the border.

According to the ministry, the Azerbaijani armed forces are using artillery, small arms, and mortars in the direction of Jermuk and the village of Verin-Shorzha. In addition, an attack drone was allegedly involved. Azerbaijan has not yet confirmed the shelling. The Ministry of Defense of Azerbaijan claims that the ceasefire was violated by the Armenian military.

"Armed forces of Armenia again violated the ceasefire agreement and opened fire on our units stationed in Kelbajar and Lachin districts", according to Baku.

Earlier, Azerbaijan announced that it had lost 50 Azerbaijani military personnel: 42 of the Armed Forces of Azerbaijan and eight border guards. President of Azerbaijan Aliyev expressed his condolences to the families of the martyrs in his account on the social network.

In turn, Armenia appealed to the CSTO and the organization held an extraordinary session of the Council via video conference, during which Putin announced "additional practical steps by the Russian side aimed at de-escalating tensions" on the border of Armenia and Azerbaijan.

The participants of the meeting reached an agreement on sending the CSTO Mission to the Republic of Armenia.

"Also, a proposal to create a Working Group from among the employees of the Secretariat and military personnel of the Joint Staff to constantly monitor the situation in the area of ​​responsibility of the Collective Security Treaty Organization was agreed", the organization said in a statement.
