The Iranian
Foreign Ministry reacted to the recent US statement that Iran will supply
Russia with combat drones, which Russian troops will use in a full-scale war
against Ukraine. This was stated in the interview of the head of the Foreign
Ministry of Iran, Hossein Amir Abdollahian, for the Italian newspaper La
Repubblica.
According
to the Iranian official, the statements from the US are not true, because Iran
will not supply Russia with unmanned aerial vehicles.
Abdollahian stressed that Iran avoids any steps that could lead to an escalation in Ukraine.
He added that Iran and Russia cooperate in a number of areas, including in the field of defense. However, Tehran does not help either side of the conflict because it believes that the war must end.
"I think the problem is different now: some Western countries, including the United States, produce weapons and try to sell their products. We are trying to avoid any actions that could lead to escalation", Abdollahian stressed.
