The Ministry for Foreign Affairs of Iran stated that it does not recognize Russia's annexation of the occupied territories of Ukraine. We are talking about Crimea, Donetsk, and Luhansk regions.

RBC-Ukraine reports this with reference to Iran's Foreign Minister Hossein Amir Abdollahian in an interview with TRT World.

He stated that, despite good relations between Russia and Iran, Tehran still does not recognize the annexation of Ukrainian territories.

"We recognize the sovereignty and territorial integrity of countries within the framework of international laws, therefore, despite the excellent relations between Tehran and Moscow, we did not recognize the occupation of Crimea, Luhansk, and Donetsk regions," the minister said.

At the same time, the foreign minister claimed that Iran allegedly does not support the war and hopes for peace in Ukraine.

"We insist on our consistent principle in foreign policy: when we say that the conflict in Ukraine is not a solution, we believe in our position as a fundamental political principle on which we rely," Abdollakhian said.
