President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky was offered to create a European alliance against Russia. The proposal was initiated by British Prime Minister Boris Johnson. This was reported by Corriere Della Sera publication.

It is noted that taking into account the position of some EU countries, this alliance may become an alternative to Ukraine's accession to the EU.

The European Community model will include the UK as the leader of the organization and countries such as Ukraine, Poland, Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania, as well as possibly Turkey at a later stage.

The publication notes that due to the vague position of some countries on the prospects of Ukraine's membership in the European Union, Johnson is trying to confuse Brussels with all the cards, proposing a new system of political, economic, and military alliances. It is expected that the new alliance may bring together countries dissatisfied with the EU's position and Germany's response to Russia's military aggression.

Everything can be decided on June 23 during the summit of EU leaders. That is when the decision will be made to grant Ukraine the status of a candidate for EU membership.

Corriere Della Sera also believes that rumors of a new European Community are being spread to put pressure on European leaders ahead of the June decisions and calls the London project a colossus on clay feet because it does not have the financial means to support Ukraine as the European Union.
