More than 600 dolphins died in occupied Crimea in 2021. In particular, we are talking about those who threw themselves on the coast. This was reported at the Dolphin Rehabilitation Center "Carefree Sea".
"This season, the Center recorded 603 cases of cetaceans beaching themselves on our coast, including 266 azovs, 128 white-tailed deers, 121 bottlenose dolphins, and 88 dolphins of unspecified species. The total amount of beaching is 2,450 cases for the last 5 years," according to the Center.
49% of cases occurred during the peak fishing season - March, April, and May. Moreover, April was a record - 135 cases of beaching were taken into account during the month.
According to the Center, the main statistics of the Crimean regions remained unchanged. Sevastopol district is in the lead (28%), Saky district and Yevpatoria are in second place (20%), Leninsky district is ahead for the first time (13%).
