It seems that Putin, an "unsurpassed strategist", has decided to focus on maintaining the territories of southern Ukraine captured in the spring. This was announced by a Pentagon official.

It is reported that Russia has increased the number of its group in Ukraine over the past week. Today there are 106 battalion tactical groups (BRGr) on the Russian-Ukrainian front. Besides, on May 9, the Pentagon announced 97 BTGs at the front.

Based on the published information, it can be seen that Moscow was able to gather only 9 BTGs, which are estimated to number 4,500 fighters. About half of all Russian BTGs, about 50 BTGs, are concentrated in southern Ukraine between Kherson and Mariupol.
