NATO North Atlantic Council's Supreme Advisory Committee has invited Ukraine to participate in issues that were previously the prerogative to NATO members only. Such an event happens for the first time in more than half a century, according to Ukraine's Defence Ministry.

Today, NATO Secretary-General Jens Stoltenberg will host a meeting in Brussels with the Alliance's Supreme Advisory Committee on Armaments - the Conference of National Armaments Directors.

This was announced by Deputy Minister of Defence of Ukraine Oleksandr Nosov, who will represent Ukraine during the Conference at NATO Headquarters.

According to Nosov, Ukraine has previously participated in the meetings of the Conference, but this time it will be involved in the discussion of issues that are exclusively the prerogative of NATO member states.

The issues include innovation in the military-technical sphere, transformation in interaction with science and the military-industrial complex. Parties are also expected to discuss achieving an optimal balance between military needs and budgetary opportunities.

Ukrainian Deputy Defence Minister Oleksandr Nosov and National Armaments Directors of NATO member states will also hold bilateral meetings in the Belgian capital.
