The stage of liberation of the south of Ukraine, including Crimea, will take place when Russia asks for peace due to new threats and challenges.

This was stated in an interview with "Glavkom" by the chairman of the Mejlis of the Crimean Tatar people Refat Chubarov.

According to him, most likely, the stage of negotiations, where the terms of Russia's surrender will be discussed, will come.

"There are many other areas of Russia's pursuit, including the introduction of international sanctions, increasing their toughness. The consequences of the current sanctions are already in place. At the end of this year, even though in stages, an embargo will be imposed on Russian energy, especially oil", he said.

Chubarov stressed that the liberation of southern Ukraine will end with the liberation of the Crimea peninsula. He added that he did not imagine a situation where Ukrainian troops would liberate the Kherson region and stop disciplinedly on the administrative line between occupied Crimea and the Kherson region.

"Because this will mean that dozens and dozens of Russian military units equipped with anti-aircraft missiles will remain on the territory of occupied Crimea, and ships of the Russian Black Sea Fleet will remain. In other words, attacks on the mainland of Ukraine will be carried out again and again from there", the chairman of the Mejlis said.
