Sanctions against illegal Russian elections held in occupied Crimea, Donbas come into force in Ukraine

President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky has signed four decrees imposing sanctions against individuals and legal entities, over illegal Russian State Duma elections held in occupied Crimea and Donbas.

The move has put into effect the National Security and Defense Council (NSDC) decision "on the imposition of sanctions against individuals and legal entities involved; in organizing voting to the Russian State Duma elections and human rights violations in temporarily occupied Crimea peninsula."

Four relevant decrees (No.556-559/2021) on implementing the NSDC decision dated October 15 have been published on the presidential website. The decrees imposed personal special economic and other restrictive measures (sanctions) against 141 individuals and 49 legal entities.

The NSDC secretary has been tasked with monitoring the implementation of the decision enacted by the decrees.
