On January 13, the Embassy of Ukraine in Spain addressed the President of La Liga Javier Tebas with a request to correct a mistake in the map, where occupied Crimea is indicated as a part of the Russian Federation.
The appeal was published on the Embassy's Facebook account.
"In connection with the information that became known to the Embassy of Ukraine in Spain, Ambassador Serhiy Pohoreltsev immediately appealed to the President of La Liga Javier Tebas on a gross error made on the league's website, by indicating the map of Ukraine without the Crimean peninsula,” according to the appeal.
It is noted
that the Ambassador of Ukraine raised the issue of immediate adjustments to the
map, and stressed the need for the La Liga Association to pursue a policy of
non-recognition of changes in the status of the Autonomous Republic of Crimea
and the city of Sevastopol, as well as sanctions against Russia.
The division responded to the Embassy's
request and corrected a mistake in the map.
As reported by QIRIM.News, the Spanish football championship La Liga indicated occupied Crimea as a Russian territory on the official website.
