The Kerch bridge is a priority and a legitimate target of the Armed Forces, and the reaction of the American side clearly testified that the Ukrainian military has the right to independently choose targets for destruction, which they consider necessary to ensure the territorial integrity and sovereignty of Ukraine.

This was told to QIRIM.News by an expert, co-chairman of the public initiative "Prava sprava" Dmytro Snehiriov.

He reminded that after the explosions at the warehouse in the Dzhankoi district of Crimea on August 16, the occupiers decided to set up a checkpoint before entering the Kerch (Crimea) bridge, where they are going to check the documents and cars of all those who want to leave the peninsula.

"For the Russians, the Kerch Bridge is the main logistical component. If the bridge is disabled, direct transport connections from mainland Russia will be disrupted. Taking into account the fact that the Antoniv highway and railway bridges have long been under fire from the Armed Forces of Ukraine, and if the Kerch bridge is also in the affected area, then the occupied territories of the Kherson region and the AR Crimea will be virtually isolated. In Russia, only the sea route will remain, and this will lead to the deterioration and increase in the cost of logistics," Snegiriov noted.

The expert is sure that the logistical connection between the Ukrainian peninsula and mainland Russia must be completely blocked, in order to finally stop the supply of weapons and personnel to the Russian army.

"There will be attempts to attack the bridge, but its complete destruction is not intended. There are 19 kilometers of the bridge and at least half of it is on our territory. If the bridge is not blocked, it will be a permanent supply of Russian troops on the peninsula. The Russians understand this, that is why they are trying to put pressure on our Western partners so that the latter do not provide us with missiles with a range of up to 300 km," he added.
