Since the beginning of the year, there have been 57 attempts at sabotage on the territory of Russia and occupied Crimea, which increased sharply in May.

This is stated in the Verstky study.

"From January 1 to May 12, at least 57 sabotage attempts took place on the territory of Russia, as well as in annexed Crimea, on railway tracks, facilities of the Ministry of Defense, and energy facilities. Almost 25% of them happened just in 13 days of May," according to the message.

What is more, the statistics included only attempts to destroy state facilities that took place, regardless of whether they were successful or not. That is, those cases were not taken into account when security forces reported the detention of citizens who were allegedly preparing sabotage but had not yet committed it.

"Thus, during January and February, 12 sabotage attempts took place. In March, their number dropped to seven, and in April it increased again to 12. In May, at least 14 attempts to destroy state property took place in 11 days," is said in the report.

The most common type of sabotage is setting fire to relay cabinets on railways. Since the beginning of the year, 36 such cases are known. The second most popular is the set fire to military commissariats. There were 9 of them. Also, saboteurs damaged railway tracks, blew up a gas pipeline, set fire to police cars, the FSB building, the Russian Guard warehouse, and the center for collecting humanitarian aid for soldiers.
