The Russian command, as part of the reforms, is going to increase the number of its armed forces to one and a half million people.
This was stated by the Deputy Chief of the Main Operational Department of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Brigadier General Oleksiy Gromov, the press service of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine reports.
"In order to implement their aggressive plans, the Russian command has announced large-scale measures to reform the armed forces. One of the is increase the total number to 1.5 million people and forming at least 20 new divisions", Gromov said.
According to him, these plans indicate the Kremlin's intentions to engage in long-term confrontation and preparations for conducting large-scale hostilities.
"It is clear that the implementation of the above will require considerable time and financial and economic resources. At the same time, significant losses in personnel weapons, and military equipment, the effects of international sanctions, as well as the analysis of the formation of military units of the aggressor country from 2016 till the present day raise doubts that the planned organizational and personnel measures by the enemy will be completed in the specified time deadlines", noted the deputy chief of the Main Operational Department of the General Staff.
