Ukraine needs at least four submarines for the Black Sea, which could be based in Sevastopol.
Andriy Ryzhenko, the head of the Ukrainian Institute of Maritime Law and Security, said this on air, the "My-Ukraine" channel reports.
According to him, the boats should be based in Sevastopol.
"But this is a long-term perspective, like 7-10 years, no less. And this project requires about 3 billion dollars in current financing. It will be the purchase of these boats, training of crews, ammunition, preparation of infrastructure, etc.", he said.
The expert emphasized that in the case of providing Ukraine with a submarine, "it is going to be just a start for everything".
He emphasized that the initial cost of a boat is 30% of its life cycle. That is, for the next 20 years, it will be necessary to draw up financial programs to serve it.
