Ukraine, US launch 'Rapid Trident' military drills

The Rapid Trident 2021 exercise commanded by Ukraine and the United States has launched on Monday.

Some 6,000 servicemen from 15 partner countries are taking part in the Ukrainian-American exercise started on September 20, Land Forces of Ukraine announced.

The International Center for Peacekeeping and Security located in the Lviv region of Ukraine, hosts the official opening ceremony of the largest official ceremony.

As noted, the chief of the Ukrainian Army’s Land Forces Training Command, Major General Ihor Palahniuk, together with the head of the Ukrainian-American exercise Rapid Trident-2021, Brigadier General Vladyslav Klochkov were present during the drills.

The commanders observed the progress of combat coordination of one of the Land Forces’ mechanized brigades, as well as the readiness of the National Guard, the State Border Guard Service and the Military Law Enforcement Service.

They also made sure the management staff, as well as the command post of a separate mechanized brigade and training ground facilities, are also ready for the joint exercise.

Rapid Trident 2021, the Ukrainian-American command and staff exercises involving troops, will continue until next month.

As reported earlier, NATO-Ukraine tabletop exercise “Coherent Resilience” was held in Odesa on September 13.
