Ukraine should do everything possible to de-occupy Crimea by the summer.

This was stated by the head of the Main Directorate of Intelligence of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine, Major General Kyrylo Budanov, in an interview with the Washington Post, writes the press service of the Ministry of Defense.

"We have to do everything so that Crimea returns home by summer", Budanov said.

When asked whether he believes that the entry of Ukrainian troops into occupied Crimea will encourage Russian President Putin to use nuclear weapons, the head of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine stated that this is not true.

"It is not true. And Crimea will be returned to us. I will tell you more: everything started in Crimea in 2014, and everything will end there", said Budanov.

According to him, this is an intimidation tactic. And the task of a nuclear strike will lead to the disintegration of Russia.

"This is a scare tactic. Russia is a country from which you can expect a lot, but not outright idiocy. Sorry, but that's not going to happen. A nuclear attack will lead not just to the military defeat of Russia, but to the disintegration of Russia. And they know it very well", said the head of military intelligence of Ukraine.

In addition, Budanov noted that this year the Russian Federation will focus on occupying a larger area in the Donetsk and Luhansk regions.

He calls the resumption of the offensive from Belarus unlikely, such a step can only indicate the intention to distract and divide the defense forces.
