New Strikes Escalate the Conflict

In the early hours of June 13, a new stage of confrontation erupted between Israel and Iran, as Israeli forces launched strikes on Iranian military and nuclear targets. Iran responded with a massive missile attack, raising the threat of a full-scale war.

Timeline of Hostilities

The conflict escalated when Israel, early Friday morning, launched an operation targeting key Iranian facilities, including nuclear sites in Natanz and Isfahan, as well as command centers. According to the Israeli military, over 200 fighter jets struck more than 100 targets, destroying missiles, radar systems, and underground complexes. 78 people were killed, and 329 others were injured. Iran retaliated by firing at least 150 missiles, some of which were intercepted by Israel’s air defense systems. In Tel Aviv and other cities, administrative buildings were damaged, civilians were injured, and one person was killed.

Tehran confirmed major losses, including the deaths of Hossein Salami, commander of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps, and Mohammad Bagheri, Chief of the General Staff, along with other high-ranking officials and nuclear scientists. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu stated that the operation aimed to neutralize Iran’s nuclear capabilities, addressing the Iranian people with the slogan: “Woman, Life, Freedom.”

In turn, Iranian authorities labeled the attacks as a “declaration of war” and vowed severe retaliation. The IAEA reported that radiation levels remain stable for now, although the damage from the strikes is still being assessed.

Consequences and International Reaction

The escalation has already affected global oil prices, potentially increasing Russia’s fuel revenues. Former U.S. President Donald Trump voiced support for Israel’s actions, hinting at covert approval of the operation.

Experts warn that the conflict could last for at least two more weeks if Israel continues targeting Iranian infrastructure.
